Constantinos Tsiliacos - Shades of Light
Constantinos Tsiliacos is inspired by the constant change of daylight, and how he can use the shades of light in his work.
The Greek light as he calls it can be captured from the early morning hours until sunset. He is always excited about the way the light changes, the creation of shadows and the change of temperature in the light. There is beauty in the uniqueness of the time of day, as the light is never constant.
Greece has very strong sunlight that shines close to three hundred days a year. This makes it the ideal place to study, work and photograph the daylight.
Constantinos has also created White in Blue, his Daylight Photography Studio in Lagonisi. He had the idea for the space for over 12 years, from the time he lived and worked permanently in London. The photo studio overlooks the south towards the sea and allows to optimise all hours of natural daylight, from early morning hours until sunset. The surrounding area has features of the Greek islands.
Constantinos and his partner are constantly renovating and studying the space so that they can optimise every corner for photography. They have demolished and rebuilt the studio many times until they are satisfied with the view from every angle.
With this harsh light exposure and the clarity of the air close to the sea, it creates really intense shadows. Something Constantinos likes to experiment with, especially when photographing the human body.
Constantinos shares some of the work, that he has created based on this concept.
