The Best Taste of Athens Is On The Street
The food trucks and the after-dark eateries in Athens have gone to another level. There is no longer only the concept of "dirty" - which does not spoil us in any way - there is now all-day street food, with options that we would not have thought of a few years ago.
Mavili Square
We couldn't have started with another place. It has accompanied Athenians' nights out for many decades. There's almost always a line, but it makes up for it. It has a classic recipe with sausage, carrot, cabbage, boiled onion, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise and potatoes, which probably has no competition.
Johnny Hot Dog
It started years ago outside Panteion University, but you will find it in other places since then. It is also located on Iera Odos in Gazi and on Poseidonos Avenue.

Meraklis in Flisvos
It may have been hidden behind the tram lines recently, but its 50 years of operation make it the first choice on the Beach. People also prefer it because it offers sandwiches with sausages, not meat.

Galiandra
A new canteen in Metaxourgeio, called Galiandra. You can go early and enjoy many classic and modern options in the beautiful colourful barrels it uses for tables. Above it has fabulous lanterns and flags to complement the happy environment.
The place was an abandoned yard that became a favourite destination for those who love excellent street food. With options such as strawberry, cherry tomato and graviera salad, roast beef sandwich, tzalfouti, herb pesto and roasted red peppers, a hot dog with pulled pork cooked in sous vide, pickled cucumber, mustard, and chopped dry onion, and also served sloppy joes in a vegetarian and vegan version, with braised soy mince.
Abuelo
In Kolokotroni, Syntagma, a street of particular interest for culinary experiments in Athens, Abuelo ('grandfather' in Spanish) made its appearance this year.
It is excellent street food with an attractive culinary proposition, which will probably "catch" several consumer choices.

Holy Moly
Finally, ‘the place of taste, ’ Holy Moly, located in Gazi, opens early in the morning for coffee and excellent breakfast, brunch and lunch.
You will try homemade options such as pancakes with praline and jams and sandwiches with avocado, eggs and much more.
The excellent raw materials it uses are an essential element. However, one of its strong points is definitely the Burger! In anyways, you will find a delicious reason to visit it!
