Givenchy's New Capsule Collaboration Celebrating 100 Years of Disney

Following their inaugural collaboration in May, Givenchy and Disney have reunited to craft an all-new capsule collection starring Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, in honour of the Lunar New Year and The Walt Disney Company’s 100th anniversary.

For the collaboration, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, a first in the history of character animation, makes a fashionable exit from the Disney vault, ahead of the Year of the Rabbit. Fusing the fun-loving character’s mischievous spirit into the range, Givenchy creative director Matthew M. Williams curated a “one-of-a-kind world tour” for the age-old character, sourcing inspiration from New York, Paris, Los Angeles, Shanghai, Tokyo and beyond.

Among the lineup, a red varsity jacket captivates attention, with artwork showcasing Oswald riding a bronco to Los Angeles, and a blue button-down shirt blends graphic illustrations into an all-over bandana print. Denim dons statement patchwork featuring the fiesty character along with red horseshoe motifs, and T-shirts blend Givenchy’s iconography with simple phrases - like “Lucky” and “New York City” - that champion the rabbit’s global escapades. As for accessories, the collection offers Disney x Givenchy totes, small cross-body bags, card carriers, caps and more.

The collection’s campaign (and Oswald’s world tour) will manifest in a mixed-reality short produced in collaboration with both Walt Disney Animation Studios and art director and photographer Julian Klincewicz. Beginning at LA’s El Capitan Theatre, the project will see talent Madelaine Petsch, Amber Liu and Alton Mason journey through Shanghai, New York, Tokyo and Paris alongside the Lucky Rabbit. Earlier this month, Walt Disney Animation Studios released a new Oswald short, marking the clever character’s first appearance in almost 95 years.

The Disney x Givenchy capsule collection will be available beginning December 16 in China, Singapore and at the Tokyo Ikebukuro pop-up. The collection will launch at the Miami Aventura pop-up on December 19, and it will be available globally beginning December 30 on Givenchy’s website. Prices range from €220 EUR to €3,790 EUR.
